It's here! After an odd winter (and equally odd spring), chirping birds and a warming sun signaled that the 2016 season had begun!
And so Jon and I started to regret every Saturday morning that we didn't sleep in until 10 during those long winter months. Because now we both awake closer to six everyday, with the tasks on the To Do lists splitting and dividing faster than the cells in our bodies. (Sometimes I wonder: what grows faster - the To Do list or the weeds?)
We are so excited for this season. The 2016 season will be one of change as Honest Field Farms simultaneously grows and narrows its focus. Here's a quick preview of some of the changes you'll see at the farm this season.
A Greater Focus on our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program
Last year, we had a great season growing for our CSA members. Our CSA program helps us to connect better with our customers and provide opportunities for learning, workshops and events. It also helps us at the farm reduce waste and provides a stable income for the farm. It's also a lot of fun - getting to know our members and welcoming them to the farm.
For all of these reasons, we're opening more CSA memberships this season.
That being said, we anticipate being sold out of CSA memberships by May 30. So please join as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. (For returning members, please remember that we cannot hold your spot for you so sign up soon!)
Back at the Waterdown Farmers' Market!
We're happy to announce that we'll be at the Waterdown Farmers' Market again this year, every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This market feels like home so we're excited to be welcomed back and hope to see everyone there!
Goodbye for now, Ancaster Farmers' Market
This year we made the difficult choice to give up our spot at the Ancaster Farmers' Market. We have loved being at this market every Wednesday for the last two years and will definitely miss the folks there. We're sad to be leaving and grateful to our Ancaster customers. We know we'll see you around soon.
Welcoming New Team Members!
We will be welcoming new members to our production team this year. As we've mentioned previously, part of our mission is to help foster a new generation of Canadian farmers. We'll be embarrassing them on this blog in the near future so stay tuned!
We will also continue to welcome new volunteers who are trying to grow their growing experience (sorry, couldn't resist). If you're interested in finding out more about joining our team, get in touch with us at honestfieldfarms @ gmail.com.
